KINE 185 - Ballroom Dance I Credits: (1) College Curriculum: ACTV, ARTS This course will introduce students to beginning ballroom dance technique and skills, including social dance skills and etiquette. This course will introduce students to rhythm, dance position, leading/following skills, and the history and characteristics of various ballroom dances. Through readings, video viewings, class discussion, in-person and video technique lessons, and practice of beginning-level steps and figures, students will gain a better understanding of the most popular American-Style Smooth and Rhythm dances. The Leader’s section is open to anyone who would like to learn the lead part of the dances; the Follower’s section is open to anyone who would like to learn the follow part of the dances (not gender-specific). There is a fee associated with this course.
