Credits: (3)
This course introduces students to the architectural history of Britain, British America, and the early American republic, 1550-1800. It covers the emergence and development of domestic, ecclesiastical, and public building forms in England and America over 250 years in the early modern period. The focus will be on the plan and function of buildings, traditional construction technology, and the role of style in shaping building practices in the mother country and explore how those features fared in a colonial setting.
