PSYC 441 - Neuroscience of Musical Cognition Credits: (3) Prerequisite(s): PSYC 201 and PSYC 202 This course will explore how individuals process music. We will ask questions like why is music found across all cultures and why does it have such a powerful effect on us? Why might we have developed the neural structures to appreciate something that, at face value, seems to offer no evolutionary advantage? We will be taking a neuroscience -based approach to answer these questions. In the process we will review many important research papers in the field and discuss the implications of what has been discovered.
