LAW 398 - Election Law

The law of democracy is a building block of democratic citizenship too few Americans understand. This course will examine laws governing the political process in the United States. Topics will include laws governing the right to vote, legislative redistricting (political and racial gerrymandering, one person one vote, and the Voting Rights Act), candidate ballot access, election administration, political parties, ballot initiatives, campaign finance, and more. The goal of the course is to provide students with a solid foundation in the basic principles of election law in this country.
