LAW 427 - Vice and the Law This course examines the historical and current public policy approaches to, and the regulation of, alcohol, tobacco/nicotine, marijuana/THC, and other substances considered to be vices. Policy objectives and challenges will be explored from the perspectives of public health and scientific communities, government, consumers, regulated and illicit industry and markets, and law enforcement, including the impact on human behavior, society at large, and various populations. The course will also focus on federal and state regulatory approaches and legal and constitutional considerations involved in the regulation of these vices, including in emerging areas such as cannabis and vapor products.
