This course is placed in the context of a summer school/summer enrichment experience for K-12 youth. Coursework will focus on key issues affecting teachers and schools and the communities they serve. Students will be introduced to legal, professional, and ethical standards of practice. They will also examine national, state, and local policies impacting teachers, schools, and student learning. Students will have opportunities to build relationships with youth and practice co-teaching strategies with mentor teachers. Students will also build relationships with administrators and families while drawing on the assets of a local community.
