LAW 357 - Artificial Intelligence Law and Policy


This 3-credit course examines the topic of AI governance through newly emerging legal and policy developments. AI governance aims to provide oversight structures to constrain the risks associated with the deployment of AI systems. We will explore conceptual questions surrounding how AI governance systems and liability regimes are framed, implemented, and enforced, especially within the lens of national security. We will also trace the historical and theoretical underpinnings of significant doctrinal and policy developments in AI governance, giving particular attention to the Constitutional law dimensions of AI governance. Assessment includes class participation and a final research paper (No final exam). No prior technical or legal knowledge is required. Students may take both AI Law & Policy and AI & More, Law 428
