MSCI 559 - Parasitology Fall, odd years Credits: (3) Shields
This course covers the biology and ecology of protozoan, helminth, and arthropod parasites. The focus is on parasites of medical and veterinary importance, with emphasis placed on life cycles, pathology, control methods, and ecological impacts of parasitic infections. Graduate students will give a 20-30 minute presentation on the topic of their choice (typically in disease ecology or host-parasite relationships). Depending on their experience with Parasitology, graduate students may be asked to give a guest lecture as well. Recommended: BIOL 302: Integrative Biology: Animals. Three lecture hours. Cross-level listed with MSCI 498, open to undergraduates.
