LAW 521 - History of the Conservative Legal Movement


This seminar examines the rise of the conservative legal movement in the United States. Particular attention is given to the Federalist Society, and its role in shaping the judiciary, specifically the U.S. Supreme Court. This course will explore the judicial philosophy of Clarence Thomas. This course will also discuss the key ideas advanced by the conservative legal movement-most notably originalism. Lastly, this course will explore conservative legal advocacy.
