Insects are one of the most abundant and diverse groups of animals on the planet. They provide crucial services for many ecosystems, including pollination, their role in food webs, soil formation and mixing, plant community control, biological control of pests, and more. This course is an introduction to the biology of insects and is designed to give you an overview of the field of entomology. In this course, you will learn about several topics within the field of entomology, including evolution, classification, morphology, physiology, behavior, and ecology. Class will be a mixture of lectures, discussions, and activities. Concurrent registration in the lab is NOT required.
