MATH 408 - Matrix Analysis Credits: (3) Prerequisite(s): (MATH 211 and MATH 214 . Matrix analysis concerns the study of matrices, their properties and applications to different areas. Specific topics include: matrix operations, determinants, eigenvalues, eigenvectors, Gershgorin’s theorem, canonical forms, Cayley Hamilton theorem, inner products, Gram-Schmidt process, LU decomposition, singular value decomposition, polar decomposition, different classes of matrices, spectral theorem, norms of vectors and matrices, least square approximation, best approximation, functions of matrices, Perron Frobenius theory, applications to Markov chains, differential equations, mathematical biology, image processing, neural networks, data science, and quantum computing.
