EDUC 421 - Children’s Literature Credits: (3) This course provides students with the opportunity to engage with the field of children’s literature.Students will understand the evolution of children’s literature, particularly how texts reflect and shape cultural and social norms over time, with a focus on race, gender, class, and disability. We will explore how children’s literature reflects, reinforces, and challenges societal norms and patterns of marginalization. Students will develop the skills to curate inclusive collections and will reflect on how children’s literature can be used to promote empathy and social justice.
