Attention will focus on the German party system, political campaigning, political culture, and political communication in German mass media. We will also be discussing the federal election in September 2013, the repercussions of its outcome on contemporary German politics and its coverage in German mass media. Students with a working knowledge of German may enroll for the 4 credit version of this course (GRMN 287 04), which will meet one additional hour per week to read and discuss in German.  Course may be repeated for credit when topics differ.
