American Studies, BA


Required Credit Hours: 37


Core Requirements:


At least 24 of the required 37 credits must be in courses numbered 300 and above, in courses on American topics distributed among the following areas (an updated list of approved courses is available on the American Studies website and from the Director of Undergraduate Studies):

b) At Least Six Credits in American History


At least 6 approved credits in History (an updated list of approved courses is available on the American Studies website and from the Director of Undergraduate Studies):

c) At Least Nine Credits in Humanities/Expressive Cultural Forms


At least 9 approved credits from English, Art and Art History, Dance, Kinesiology, Music, and Theatre or other expressive cultural forms.  The courses below may be used to fill this area, but many others as well.  For a full list of approved courses see the American Studies website or contact the Director of Undergraduate Studies:

d) At Least Six Credits in Social Sciences


At least 6 approved credits from Anthropology, Economics, Government, Philosophy, Religion, and Sociology or other social sciences. The courses below may be used to fulfill this area, but many others courses can count as well. For a full list of approved courses see the American Studies website or contact the Director of Undergraduate Studies:

f) At Least Six Credits of American Studies Topics Seminars
