ANTH 306 - Women, Gender and Culture Credits: (3) This course traces the ways anthropologists have studied women and gender in societies around the world and at home, looking at how their findings have contributed to-and at times, problematized-wider societal understandings of gender and sexuality. The course begins by discussing different perspectives on gender and sexuality, highlighting the advantages of an anthropologically-oriented approach. With this disciplinary framing built into the course, it is not necessary for students to have taken the Introduction to Cultural Anthropology course as a prerequisite. Cross-listed with: GSWS 306
